Steve Bannon:
Steve, let me ask you, the terms that Reuters is reporting that are the Russian terms, What's your, what's your first take on that?
Steve Cortes:
Listen, my first take is that they're very reasonable terms. Now, that's obviously not up to me. I don't think it's up to any American. It's up to the Ukrainians right to decide, but I don't think they have much of a choice at this point. If the United States and NATO make it clear that we are not going to help them escalate this war, even further, that the world is already paying enough in terms of economic consequences. There has already been enough death and misery in Ukraine itself. What Russia is now offering is nothing surprising here.
In fact, if anything if there's a surprise it's that Putin isn't demanding more, that he's not demanding Odessa that. He's not trying to tell Ukraine that they have to completely demilitarize. He's simply saying as he has said for a very long time, they cannot be part of NATO. His Eastern provinces should be independent and that Crimea which it already effectively his, let's recognize that it is part of Russia. Not look are these are these kind and benign terms. No, Putin is a is a gangster and I thought, but this is a regional showdown of gangster states because yes, Ukraine is also a gangster state in which America has no vital national interest.
Steve Bannon:
Oh please, please, please. What are you saying? It's Athens at the beginning of democracy because, you know, Zelensky is the “Thucydides” right? He's Zolon. They’re the fourth most corrupt nation in the world, Russia's is seven. That's not Jeffersonian Democrats over there. It's two of the most corrupt nations on Earth all run by oligarchs, gangster states fighting each other.
Steve Cortes:
Two gangster states fighting, one happens to be a lot stronger than the other and so they're going to get to largely dictate the terms to end this fighting which would be good for them and would be good for the world. But by the way, if you don't believe me about them being a gangster state, all you need to do is look at which American politicians have been to generously rewarded and paid directly by the Ukrainians, by Ukrainian oligarchs, who are every bit as corrupt as any Russian oligarchs.
And we're talking of course about Joe Biden via his son who operated as a bagman for him in Kiev to collect millions of dollars for the Biden cartel. And we're talking of course about Hillary Clinton at the Clinton Global initiative. Ukraine was the number one foreign source of money when she was Secretary of State via their oligarchs for that slush fund which pretended to be a charity.
So, the worst elements, the most corrupt elements of American politics have one use Ukraine an incredibly corrupt country as effectively a piggy bank and who has paid the price? Well, the hard-working citizens of both of those countries. And what we're doing right now in terms of, I know we're going to get more to the economics, but the I think a lot of Americans perhaps don't yet realize just how much we're already involved in this war Steve.
We are in this war. Yes, we're not shooting thankfully, and I hope you never get there to the kinetic side, but we have already embarked upon a currency war against the Russian people and economic war against Russia. And I would argue against American citizens. The consequence, the ramifications have been dire. We are at War. It's the 2022 version of War, not 1918. And I hope we don't get to the1918 part. It's time to deescalate. What Russia has put on the table to me is very, very reasonable. That should be up to the Ukrainian, but they're only going to make the rational choice Steve, if America, Brussels, and Paris, and London, make it clear to them, we are not coming to save you.
Steve Bannon:
Well, you know Brussels is pushing. This EU and NATO and is now time and look that's the terms. Who knows, I'm sure he's going to, I can't imagine that he would walk away from a battlefield wins like Odessa in the whole land bridge in the South and control the ports, but we'll see. But here's the point on the information war part the mainstream media is not going to talk about that. All you're getting is people being bombed, which is horrific, but they're going to continue to be bombed because the West is not doing it. They’re talking about sending MiGs to Poland and we’d send these arms. Guys need to be trained on the use. Can't walk in there and all of sudden you've got your implementing your own no-fly zone.
It's all fantasy. And that's how the loose talk of the Republicans this weekend who I call the Fanboys who are caught up in the emotions of it. You got to look at this with a tough eye. And I want to make sure that all the left is going to be crazy we call a gangster state. That is the people that assess this said it's the fourth most corrupt nation in the world. Now think about that for a second. Think about some of the nations in the world and you’re the fourth, most corrupt and Russia is seven. They’re corrupt because it's all oligarchs over there. That's oligarchy line, right? And the Clintons just announced that the restarting the Clinton Global Initiative because they want to get over there. They want to be stealing with both hands.
Steve Cortes:
We are unfortunately responsible for this situation as tragedy and what I mean by that is because we have absolutely lied to both sides for decades, right? We promised Russia that we are not going to expanded Eastward and we have done nothing but expanded Eastward ever since then. We also diluted the poor Ukrainians into the idea into the seduction that they could someday be NATO members, which was never going to happen. And that if they gave up their nukes, that we were going to protect them, not all of those were lies, lies to both sides.
By the way, speaking of playing both sides we're playing both sides right now today. Biden is buying fuel from the Russians funding, the Russian war machine with petrol dollars at the same time, we're sending direct aid to Kiev. Okay, so what I'm saying is let's get rational. Let's realize no vital American interest here. Let's stop trying to treat the world as a chess board, because the consequences typically are dire for America, especially when we try to play the game of regime change, which has been so disastrous for the world and disastrous for America. That's what we're doing via this currency war against Russia. And right now, the power brokers in Washington, and in Brussels, do not care about the consequences before working class people who are facing a food and energy crisis because of these attempts at regime change within Russia to topple Putin.
